Gigia Kolouch
Encaustic and Art Theory
Gigia Kolouch was fortunate to have been born in Marin County California where redwoods, live oaks, fog and wild spaces shaped everyday life. While gardening along with her mother, aunts and grandparents, she became involved with the seasonal cycle of growing, tending, harvesting, cooking and celebrating food as an expression of place.
After moving to Denver in 1989, she developed a business teaching cooking and gardening to children and adults. While developing her teaching business, she continued to experiment with painting andprintmaking.
For the past ten years she has developed encaustic techniques that reveal her insights into the natural world. See her work at the Lakewood Arts Gallery and visit her studio at the Continuum Art Studios in Englewood.
